Sea Eagles announce the departure of four players before the end of 2022.
Two more have been verified, although the first two were already known.
The Manly Sea Eagles have announced that, in addition to Dylan Walker and Kieran Foran, Martin Taupau and Andrew Davey will be leaving the team at the end of 2022.
After Sione Fainu (Wests Tigers) and Jorge Taufua (Wakefield Trinity) left mid-season to join other teams, the quartert followed them out the door.
By switching clubs, Foran and Walker had already made their exit from the northern beaches official. Foran would take his expertise to the Gold Coast Titans, while Walker would bring his usefulness to the New Zealand Warriors.
For the 2023 season, both players have been touted as fantastic additions to their respective teams, resolving important problems at each establishment.
It had been speculated that Davey and Taupau were on their way out of Brookvale. The club has now verified this, releasing a little video on their website on Monday night that showcases all four players.
Although there were rumors in the run-up to August 1 that Taupau may have received an instant release to join the blue and gold, he stated earlier in the season that no team had approached him with a deal.
That eventually fell through, but the Eels are reportedly still intrigued.
Davey was previously connected to the Eels as well, but according to the most recent sources, he will find a lifeline with the Canterbury Bulldogs.
Speaking publicly last week, Davey acknowledged that Manly had not extended an offer to him for a new contract and that he was having difficulty finding one since the NRL had not to determine the entire wage cap for 2023.
Following the team’s humiliation at the hands of the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday night, all four players received a lap of honor. The Sea Eagles will now travel to play the Canberra Raiders and Canterbury Bulldogs over the last two weeks of the season.
