QB for the Raiders Two games were suspended for Jimmy Garoppolo’s PED use, according to a report.

Jimmy Garoppolo, the quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, will miss the first two games of the 2024 NFL regular season due to a rules violation involving performance-enhancing drugs, according to a report published by ESPN on Friday.

ESPN reports that Garoppolo will not appeal the suspension.

Garoppolo is anticipated to be released by the Raiders before to his mid-March deadline for the $11.25 million roster bonus. Additionally, $11.25 in guaranteed base pay for 2024 may be revoked due to the suspension.

The club last offseason signed the ten-year veteran to a three-year, $72.75 million contract. Nevertheless, Garoppolo was benched in favor of rookie Aidan O’Connell, who would start the remainder of the season, when the Raiders sacked general manager Dave Zeigler and coach Josh McDaniels in the middle of the season.

O’Connell finished the season 5-5 with 2,218 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions via the air. He also started in Week 4 when Jimmy Garoppolo was injured. The only other quarterbacks on the roster are the experienced Brian Hoyer, who joined the team last April as a backup and is in his second year of play, and quarterback McDaniels. The Raiders may be looking to add a starting signal-caller in free agency or the draft.

PED infractions have seldom resulted in a quarterback suspension. Last autumn, rookie quarterback Jake Haener of the New Orleans Saints received a six-game suspension. Mark Sanchez was the last quarterback to be banned under the rules before that, in 2018.

Jimmy Garoppolo, quarterback for the Raiders, has been banned by the NFL for two games for breaking the league’s rules regarding performance-enhancing drugs.

The offense is related to him “using a prescribed medication without having a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption,” according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Given that the quarterback is expected to be dismissed by the Raiders in 2023 as a result of his subpar play, Garoppolo is unlikely to serve out his suspension with the organization.
