In the most recent rugby league betting incident, Manly’s David “The Wolfman” Willia  ms was BANNED for the remainder of the season.

David Williams, a Sea Eagle, received a one-year suspension from the NRL for his involvement in many games that he wagered on.

He is one of five players who have been banned for placing bets on NRL games after the league’s integrity unit looked into the matter.

Ethan Lowe, a North Queensland player who has participated in ten first-grade games for the team since 2013, was also given a ban and will miss the next two games.

A two-game penalty was also imposed on lower-grade players Cody Nelson of the Gold Coast and Hymel Hunt and Slade Griffin of Melbourne.

Nine more officials have been suspended for the remainder of the season and three temporary game day officials have been fired for breaking the rules of betting.

Even harsher sanctions will be used in the future as part of a zero tolerance reform package, the NRL has warned.

The Sea Eagles winger was identified on Wednesday as one of the people who are believed to have violated the stringent gambling regulations in the code.

According to The Daily Telegraph, a well-known footballer from a Sydney club will serve a six-week ban for violating the club’s gambling policies.

Following an investigation by its Integrity Unit, the NRL was scheduled to penalize many additional players on Thursday for making tiny wagers on games, often as little as $5.

There is no proof that Williams or any other player manipulated the results of a game.

The NRL announced late last month that it had not discovered any proof of players’ extensive participation in match betting, despite preliminary investigations suggesting that fewer than eight players may be disciplined for infractions.

According to NRL regulations, it is illegal for any player, manager, club employee, or official to bet on rugby league games.

On the morning of State of Origin III, the most recent scandal to rock the game—which occurred only a week after the Todd Williams”bubbler” controversy—came to light.
