Manly signs Tommy Talau, Jaxson Paulo, and Luke Brooks while Tolu Koula’s contract is extended.
In addition to signing Luke Brooks for a four-year contract on a historic day for Manly, the Sea Eagles have also added Tommy Talau and Jaxson Paulo, and they have extended the contract of Tolu Koula.
The club’s CEO, Tony Mestrov, said, “We believe all three [new signings] will only further improve their game under Anthony Seibold.”
The Sea Eagles have signed individuals who might eventually prove to be important members of their backline, but they have also locked down guys who offered the headline name in the huge announcement—Breaks, for example.
Paulo, who has played wing for the Roosters and Bunnies, has committed to a three-year contract. Tommy Talau, a center, was signed to a two-year contract by them from the Tigers.
“Jaxson, who has scored 25 tries in 54 first-grade appearances, brings over 50 games of NRL experience with him,” Seibold stated.
“The year he participated in the NRL Grand Final in 2021 was his greatest year. What I found appealing about him that year was his performance’s steadiness.
“He has started the year really strongly for the Roosters and we feel as though his best football is in front of him.”
Since making his Tigers debut against Manly in 2019, Talau has been a player Seibold disclosed he had been watching.
“Tommy is someone I’ve watched closely for a number of years,” stated the coach.
“At the age of 18, he made his stage debut, although.
Paulo and Talau will add to the depth the team currently has with players like Reuben Garrick, Jason Saab, and Christian Tuipulotu, so the battle for backline slots is becoming hotter.
“What Jaxson and Tommy add to us is competition for spots because we are trying to build consistent performances as a team,” Seibold stated.
“We want competition for spots, and they add to the quality that we have already got in our outside backs.”
After signing a three-year contract extension, Koula, 20, is expected to remain on the Northern Beaches for the foreseeable future. He is one of the great players Manly already has on their roster.
Since making his debut with the Sea Eagles last season, the Tongan international has been a bright spot.
