Tigers’ devastating triple blow confirms their 16-month absence — Casualty Ward

Tigers utility player Adam Doueihi, 24, has sustained his third ACL tear in his left knee, the team has confirmed. This is just another example of his terrible luck when it comes to injuries.

Tigers Head of High Performance Peter Moussa estimates that Doueihi, who suffered the injury during the 28-22 loss against the Eels on Easter Monday, will be out for 12 to 16 months.

As Doueihi’s injury is the third of its kind to the same knee, revision ACL surgery will be necessary.

It’s another unfortunate blow to the career of Doueihi, who has played only 87 games across six seasons for the Rabbitohs and the Tigers.

The Lebanon representative first suffered an ACL injury in his debut NRL season in 2018 for Souths and then again in Round 21 of the 2021 season before his third on Easter Monday.

Tigers coach Tim Sheens said post game that the whole team was “pretty disappointed” after Doueihi’s most recent injury.

Sheens added, “Ask me tomorrow when I wake up and realize it wasn’t a dream or a nightmare.”

In addition to Doueihi, outside back Brett Naden sustained a grade 3 AC joint injury in the Tigers’ loss to the Eels, which will keep him out of action for the next two to four weeks.

For this Sunday’s match against Manly, Sheens has selected Brandon Wakeham to start at five-eighth instead of Doueihi, with Daine Laurie coming off the bench.

Starford To’a fills in for Naden at center, and Sheens decides to unleash Jahream Bula, a promising fullback who will play his first NRL game against the Sea Eagles.
