Important NBA draft and transfer portal entries are made by Houston basketball players
Next season, the Cougars might have just one starter back.
The men’s basketball team at the University of Houston will need to cover a lot of ground if it hopes to build on one of its best seasons ever.
It was known before the NCAA tournament that American Athletic Conference player of the year Marcus Sasser and freshman of the year Jarace Walker would be leaving for the NBA draft after the season. Starting point guard Jamal Shead also entered the NBA draft earlier this week, though he will maintain his college eligibility—as Sasser did last year before returning to UH for one more season.
Perhaps the most surprising development of the offseason to those outside the program occurred on Saturday, with junior guard Tramon Mark announcing that he will be entering the transfer portal in addition to exploring his NBA options.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported me along the way, particularly my family, coaches, teammates and fans. Without all of you, I would not be were I am today,” Mark wrote on Twitter. “I am excited for the next steps of my journey. I will continue to work to be the best person I can, both on and off the floor.”
