UCLA Football: Ivy League Defender Offered by the Bruins
Here, do the Bruins stand a chance?

Now that the transfer portal is up, your UCLA Bruins have made an instant offer to a player who has been drawing interest from throughout the nation.

Thor Griffith, a defensive tackle for Harvard, revealed on his personal Twitter account that he had received an official offer from Chip Kelly and the UCLA Bruins.

In addition to many other universities, UCLA has started to recruit the all-league interior lineman. Griffith claims that in addition, he has received offers from several universities, including Stanford, Minnesota, Cal, Boston College, Houston, and Louisville.

Griffith isn’t your normal Ivy League player. He’s 6-foot-2 and weighs a whopping 320 pounds. Griffith has been a dominant force within the league for quite a while. He’s not only supremely quick for a guy his size, but he’s very powerful — both on the field with his hands and off the field in the weight room.

In 30 career games for Harvard, Griffith reports 132 tackles, 33.5 tackles-for-loss, and 13.5 sacks. He was also noted as a 1st Team All-Ivy League player.

Griffith completely fits the profile of a UCLA football player under Chip Kelly. For one, Kelly has clearly prioritized the transfer portal. The academic profiles of Ivy League transfers are something he also loves — evidenced by the fact the Bruins have taken multiple transfers from Ivy League schools in the last few years (Jacob Sykes, Will Powers, Ryan Cragun, Jake Heimlicher).
