Thilo Kehrer makes a significant admission that explains his lack of playing time with West Ham this season.
West Ham United defender Thilo Kehrer has spoken up about how injury issues have hampered him this season.
Thilo Kehrer joined West Ham from Paris Saint-Germain for roughly £10 million in the summer of 2022 (Sky Sports).
The German recently emphasized West Ham’s current strength, but he believes the competition is beneficial.
It’s a good thing the Hammers defender has that mindset, considering he hasn’t played much this season.
David Moyes has handed Kehrer six appearances in all competitions. However, only three of them have started, with only 18 minutes of Premier League play (Transfermarkt).
And now the German has revealed why he may not have seen as much action as he would have wanted.
West Ham striker Thilo Kehrer acknowledges
The 27-year-old has spoken to Sport1 about his chances of playing for the German national team in the Euros next year.
Injuries, according to Kehrer, have played a role in his troubles this season:
“Of course, the national team remains a concern for me.” It’s all up to me and the performance I offer. I experienced a couple injury issues at the start of the season. I haven’t yet spoken with Julian Nagelsmann. But I am convinced that we will have more success with him.”
That would explain why the German has only played 18 minutes in the Premier League this season.
Vladimir Coufal’s good form, on the other hand, has been one of the main reasons why Moyes hasn’t given the 27-year-old any game time.
Thilo Kehrer will continue to play a crucial part for West Ham this season.
However, if he does not start at least half of our Premier League games this season, his spot in Germany’s national team roster may be jeopardized.
