After undergoing summer surgery, a Wolves player is scheduled to make his season debut – After a four-month absence, he is back on the field.
Gonçalo Guedes, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, is ready to return to action.
The winger hasn’t played since May 21st, when he suffered a knee injury that required surgery, but he should be back on the field this week, according to Record.
Guedes had already been exercising with Benfica’s team, but as manager Roger Schmidt stated, there’s a considerable difference between practicing and playing a game.
The Eagles appear to have saved him until the best possible time, when Benfica face Porto in the Estádio da Luz on Friday.
That’s fantastic news for the Wolves, who have obviously been keeping a close eye on the issue.
Guedes had already been loaned to Benfica by Molineux in January of this year. Because he was injured and required surgery, the Eagles requested that his suspension be prolonged in the summer.
Wolves were stuck since, with the player recovering from surgery, few teams would make an offer for him, so they loaned him back to the Eagles for another year.
Now it’s up to Guedes to show himself at Benfica and possibly persuade them to offer him a permanent deal at the conclusion of the season.

The Austrian assisted Hwang’s goal but didn’t do much as the lone striker.
After Ipswich’s third goal, he was substituted around the hour mark, and it was interesting to see youthful Nathan Fraser replace him.
Fraser, 18, is Wolves’ fourth-choice striker after the club failed to sign Che Adams or Boulaye Dia before the transfer deadline.
It was interesting that O’Neil did not go straight to Fabio Silva, instead bringing on Matheus Cunha at 75 minutes.
Many anticipated Silva to start against Ipswich after scoring in the previous round against Blackpool.
But it was Fraser who received the first nod.

Silva played no minutes against Luton Town last weekend.
As a result, he would have been incredibly fresh.
The fact that O’Neil turned to Fraser before him suggests that the manager was conveying a message to the player.
Fraser also scored in the previous round against Blackpool.
