O’Neil should be concerned by what a 30-year-old Wolves player did soon before Luton’s penalty, in my opinion.
The penalty decision against Wolves on Saturday against Luton Town has received a lot of attention.
Pedro Neto’s outstanding strike gave the Wanderers the lead at 1-0, but Josh Smith’s penalty shoot for ‘handball’ against Joao Gomes brought the score back to 1-1.
The ball bounced off the Brazilian’s thigh and onto his outstretched arm, making the verdict debatable.
The decision was ultimately affirmed because his arm was thought to be out of place.
It is quite annoying.
After the game, Gary O’Neil vented his rage.
The Wolves manager must now concentrate on strengthening his team. He might also be troubled by anything that occurred soon before Smith imposed that penalty.
On Saturday, Jose Sa made another dubious choice.
Wolves actually possessed the ball just before Smith called for the penalty.
Everyone was shoving their way out as Jose Sa held it in his hands. However, the Portuguese made a pretty odd choice to pass the ball to Mario Lemina in the middle of the field.
The Gabon international wasn’t in the best spot to accept it, which allowed Marvelous Nakamba to rob him.
Issa Kabore received the ball after it was thrown wide to her, and she then played it off Gomes.
Lemina might have performed better.
Sa, however, could have chosen a more secure course of action and kept the ball for longer.
Sa’s recklessness resurfaces.
In the end, Gomes shouldn’t have been penalized for his block. That there may be a penalty for that is absurd.
However, it was provided and is as it is.
However, if Sa had not acted hastily and sent the ball to Lemina, who was marked, perhaps we would not be discussing this debate.
This comes after his choice to attempt to locate Pedro Neto with a long kick last week against Liverpool. Sa made a poor kick, and the Reds scored as a result.
Sa is an excellent goalie overall. He consistently maintains superb control over his surroundings and has great shot stopping ability.
However, the 30-year-old’s distribution decision-making is concerning and needs to be improved.
