Edson Alvarez, a standout summer acquisition for West Ham, will not play in the Europa League opener against TSC Backa Topola of Serbia.

Edson Alvarez, West Ham’s top summer acquisition, will not play in the tournament’s opening match against TSC Backa Topola of Serbia.

For the first time in the club’s history, West Ham will play in Europe for their third straight season.

The Hammers received a return to the Europa League as compensation for their spectacular victory in the Europa Conference League in June.

For their inaugural Group A match, the Hammers invite TSC Backa Topola of Serbia to the London Stadium.

Hopes are high because they advanced to the semifinals of that competition the season prior.

Especially with the four outstanding additions West Ham made in the summer in the form of Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos, and  El Machin Mohammed Kudus is generating talk around West Ham after immediately impressing Hammers supporters.

The fact that Alvarez and Ward-Prowse have both gotten started quickly in their roles as West Ham’s replacements for Declan Rice says everything about the organization.

El Machin Alvarez, however, is the player that many West Ham supporters already believe is extremely essential to David Moyes’ new-look team.

Edson Alvarez, West Ham’s top summer acquisition, will not play in the tournament’s opening match against TSC Backa Topola of Serbia.

Many feared the worst when he left the field against Man City with the score at 1-1.And those worries turned out to be well-founded as the visitors scored twice to completely change the game.

Many believe that without Alvarez on the field, the goals—especially the second—would not have occurred.

Alvarez, West Ham’s marquee summer acquisition, will now miss the tournament opener against TSC Backa Topola of Serbia.

Kudus’s first game as Wets Ham open their Europa League campaign?
But it has nothing to do with the fatigue-related problem that took him off the field the last time.

This is due to the new West Ham hero’s suspension for getting Ajax kicked out of the Europa League when they lost to Union Berlin back in February.

Alvarez received his marching orders and a one-game suspension that will apply to this year’s campaign when he received a second yellow card in the last seconds of the contest.

Moyes is disappointed, but given the exhaustion he felt against City, perhaps a break is exactly what he needs.

Guess who the Ajax goal scorer was in that game? Who else but Kudus.
