Everton: The “monster” of Toffees could depart in the summer
In 2024, the Merseyside organization might be compelled to sell one of their most valuable possessions.
According to a recent report, one of Everton’s first-team players could leave the club in 2024 since another Premier League club has expressed interest in signing him.
Who have Everton recently added?
Sean Dyche worked diligently to add five new players to his squad during the course of the summer. Beto and Youssef Chermiti joined on a permanent basis, while Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison signed season-long loans, and Ashley Young, a free agent from Aston Villa, also arrived.
In terms of departures, Alex Iwobi, Demarai Gray, and Ellis Simms were just a few of the players who left for good. Despite the transfer window being closed until January, clubs are still considering their options.
Jordan Pickford signed a new contract in February that lasts until 2027, but Tottenham Hotspur continued to chase him over the summer. They got in touch to ask about a trade and even had discussions with the goalkeeper’s camp.
Ben Jacobs, a CBS reporter, previously claimed in his column for CaughtOffside that the Toffees would have allowed the 29-year-old to leave had they been relegated at the end of the previous season. While that outcome didn’t materialize, he could very well consider leaving should the team find themselves in a similar situation next season.
Is Everton losing Jordan Pickford?
Prior to 2024, 90min claims that Chelsea is “among the teams tracking” Pickford.
Given his contract condition, Everton is in a strong negotiation position; but, given their present financial difficulties and troubles in the Premier League, a deal may “become possible” soon.
It is “unlikely” that Mauricio Pochettino’s team will make a transfer at the start of the new year, but they plan to more thoroughly assess their possibilities in the summer, which may result in some activity at Goodison Park.
How many clean sheets has Jordan Pickford had?
During his time at Everton, Pickford has kept 63 clean sheets from 243 appearances and it’s fair to say that he’s been one of the club’s standout performers in recent seasons in what has been a disappointing couple of years for the outfit on Merseyside.
The England international, who has been referred to as a “monster” for Gareth Southgate’s team by journalist Joe Crann in the past, has so far this season made a total of 14 saves from 22 shots on target against him. He has also been impressive with the ball in his feet, completing 100% of his short attempts and 98% of his medium attempts, according to FBRef.
According to Transfermarkt, Dyche, a £125,000 weekly earner who is sponsored by Puma, has twice been named Player of the Year. The first time was in 2017/18 and the second time was in 2021/22.
Whatever the future owners of Goodison Chiefs are, they must do everything in their power to keep hold of their shot-stopping star.
