Contract negotiations with a 33-year-old starter at West Ham have begun.

According to reports, West Ham United has begun contract negotiations with Michail Antonio.

According to a recent article from Football Insider, the Hammers are anxious to sign the seasoned striker to a new contract with better conditions.

There is hope that a whole new contract can be reached even though Antonio, 33, has just under a year left on his present contract and the London-based club still has the opportunity to trigger another year.

The 33-year-old has continued the season in Saudi Arabia’s capital despite being linked to a lucrative move there earlier in the summer after his exit did not materialize.

And Antonio, who has scored twice in his team’s first five Premier League games, is now firmly David Moyes’ first-choice striker ahead of the disfavored Danny Ings and is expected to be rewarded for his strong play.

Antonio, who joined from Nottingham Forest in 2015, is currently the Irons’ all-time leading scorer with 63 goals in 233 games.

Manchester City and Newcastle United have both made £50 million bids for West Ham United’s Nayef Aguerd.
According to Claret & Hugh, West Ham are open to offers of around £50 million for centre-back Nayef Aguerd next summer.

Aguerd was linked with a move away from West Ham during the previous transfer window, but he remained at the London Stadium.

However, in a post uploaded by site founder Hughie Southon on Sunday [17 September], it is claimed the Hammers’ stance has now changed.

West Ham

It comes after Aguerd was blamed for Man City’s second goal in their 3-1 win over West Ham on Saturday [16 September].

“Nayef Aguerd, who has been linked with both Manchester City and Newcastle, could be on his way if the right kind of bid is made next summer,” the post said.

“David Moyes did not name him when claiming City’s second goal was poor in his comments yesterday, but it was clear he held the central defender accountable.”

“And it’s not the first time his gaffes have elicited a reaction from the Hammers locker room, where we’ve discovered there have been comments about his performances in the past.”

“And it now appears that if either club – or others – made an offer in and around £50 million, the club would certainly take a look.”

This is not the first time

In addition to City and Newcastle, Aguerd has been linked with Liverpool and Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.

The Moroccan international’s standing could not have been higher at the time, but his performance versus City demonstrated that he is not invincible.

With summer addition Konstantinos Mavropanos watching from the bench, any further errors by Aguerd could cost him his starting spot.

Aguerd will be frustrated with his clearance, which resulted in Bernardo Silva’s exquisite finish, which Alan Shearer highlighted on Match of the Day.

Moyes remarked after the game that he was “disappointed” with the goal and that it was a “poor” goal to surrender.

Although Aguerd was not named, it was evident who the West Ham manager was referring to.

It is not the first time he has been at fault this season, and a break from the team could be beneficial to the 27-year-old.
