Watch Bellegarde’s first day at Wolves.

Earlier this week, new acquisition Jean-Ricner Bellegarde attended his first Wolves training session, and the Wolves TV cameras were stationed throughout the day.

The Frenchman was a deadline day arrival from Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, although he later went to England to explore his new surroundings after signing terms with Wolves while still in France late in the evening.

On his first day of training for the Old Gold, he was introduced to head coach Gary O’Neil, the staff, and his new colleagues, as well as given a tour of the Compton Park facilities.

Then came training session number one, where he fit right in, and Wolves TV followed the 25-year-old as he adjusted to life in the West Midlands.

Wolves are unlikely to make an offer for free agent Jesse Lingard at this time.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Wolves to bolster Gary O’Neil’s squad ahead of the January transfer window. Lingard was a free agent when the transfer market closed on Friday, having been released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

However, BirminghamLive understands that a Wolves move for the England international is unlikely. West Ham have also been linked with a player who came up through Manchester United’s junior system and went on to make 149 Premier League appearances for them, scoring 20 goals.

He spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan at West Ham, netting nine goals in 16 league appearances before joining Forest on a free transfer last summer. However, he only appeared in 17 games for Steve Cooper’s side before being released at the end of the season.

Wolves rebuilt their squad in the summer, collecting almost £140 million from player sales while spending roughly £26 million on transfer fees to bring in Tom King, Matt Doherty, Tommy Doyle, Santiago Bueno, Enso Gonzalez, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde. This does not include the sum for Doyle, who is on loan from Manchester City for the season with a view to a £4.3m move.

The club missed out on a few of targets before the deadline, and goalscoring could be the main issue. Wolves were the Premier League’s lowest scorers last season, with 31 goals, and have scored four goals in four games this season under new manager O’Neil.

Because of the international break, Wolves do not have a game this weekend. They will play at home against Liverpool on Saturday, September 16.
