Wolves are unlikely to make an offer for free agent Jesse Lingard at this time.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Wolves to bolster Gary O’Neil’s squad ahead of the January transfer window. Lingard was a free agent when the transfer market closed on Friday, having been released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

However, BirminghamLive understands that a Wolves move for the England international is unlikely. West Ham have also been linked with a player who came up through Manchester United’s junior system and went on to make 149 Premier League appearances for them, scoring 20 goals.

He spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan at West Ham, netting nine goals in 16 league appearances before joining Forest on a free transfer last summer. However, he only appeared in 17 games for Steve Cooper’s side before being released at the end of the season.

Wolves rebuilt their squad in the summer, collecting almost £140 million from player sales while spending roughly £26 million on transfer fees to bring in Tom King, Matt Doherty, Tommy Doyle, Santiago Bueno, Enso Gonzalez, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde. This does not include the sum for Doyle, who is on loan from Manchester City for the season with a view to a £4.3m move.

The club missed out on a few of targets before the deadline, and goalscoring could be the main issue. Wolves were the Premier League’s lowest scorers last season, with 31 goals, and have scored four goals in four games this season under new manager O’Neil.

Because of the international break, Wolves do not have a game this weekend. They will play at home against Liverpool on Saturday, September 16.

Wolves are preparing to sign a 30-year-old who previously irritated Pedro Neto.

Wolves are reportedly set to offer a contract to Jesse Lingard, who is currently a free agent.

The transfer window is now closed, meaning Wolves are now unable to spend money on new players.

But the free agent market remains something for Wolves to explore.
This time last year, Wolves signed Diego Costa, who had terminated his contract with Atletico Mineiro.

And now, it has been claimed that the club could offer a contract to Lingard.

A Wolves move for Lingard would be interesting, after the player once had a bust-up with Pedro Neto. In April 2021, Neto took issue with West Ham’s game management tactics. There was an altercation between the pair at the end of the game, with teammates swarming them.

Wolves set to offer Jesse Lingard a contract Wolves are now set to offer Lingard a contract, according to Sky Sports News.

Lingard is now training with West Ham United, where he spent time on loan the previous season.

Lingard made 20 appearances for Nottingham Forest last season.

Lingard was quite impressive during his time at West Ham.

In 16 games for the Hammers, he scored nine goals and provided five assists.

One wonders if this indicates anything in the Pablo Sarabia-Saudi Arabia connections.

Lingard would be an excellent free agent signing.
This is an intriguing claim, and one that Wolves fans should support.

Lingard has a negative image, but he is a seasoned Premier League player.
