‘A promising young talent’

Jon Dahl Tomasson is excited to work with new striker Semir Telalovic, whose visa has been approved by the Home Office.

The 23-year-old German, who joined Rovers from Borussia Mnchengladbach on deadline day, will take part in his first training session with his new teammates tomorrow when the club returns to Brockhall.

Tomasson expects his new forward will contribute goals to the squad, but he admits he will need time to acclimatize to life in the Championship after only playing football in his homeland, where he scored 65 goals in 132 games.

“He’s a young talent with potential, which our Recruitment department has discovered,” Tomasson explained to RoversTV.

“Hopefully, he’ll be able to hit the ground running.”

I’m excited to work with those players over the international break because they want to listen and improve every day, and they want to do their best.

“It’s nice to work with young players and try to develop them, but it’s also important to win games,” he said.

“As I’ve said before, we needed more bodies, so it’s good that we’ve got a couple of numbers in.”

“Hopefully Semir will contribute goals.” Semir has been the focus of the Recruitment department for some time.

“He’s a late-developing player.” He’s scored some goals, but he’s not a Championship player, and that’s something we need keep in mind.

But he’s a player who wants to improve, and hopefully we can help him do so. “Let’s wait and see, because playing Championship level is different if you haven’t done it before. “It’s a tough league – one of the hardest in the world – so time will tell, but we will work hard with him, and my players will work extremely hard to improve as well.”

After the transfer window closed, two ex-Blackburn Rovers players and 30 other free agents were available.

While the summer transfer market is now closed, free agents are still available to Championship clubs looking to enhance their ranks.

The transfer window may have closed last Friday, but that doesn’t mean clubs can’t do business.

The free agency market remains an option for both Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End. There is no immediate deadline for teams to offer contracts to non-contracted players, with the fourth Thursday in March serving as the final day for unregistered players to find a new home.

On deadline day, Rovers considered adding another wide receiver to their roster, but the trade fell through. Similarly, Preston North End chose to stay with what they had at left-wing-back rather than look elsewhere.

But are there any appealing offers still looking for a home? Here is a list of 32 players that are currently without a club.
