It can take some time for John Eustace to choose his best Birmingham City starting lineup.Since Emanuel Aiwu, Cody Drameh, and Oliver Burke arrived after the transfer window closed, Blues have added a total of 13 new players. Aiwu and Drameh, two defenders, will provide Eustace much-needed competition for spots in a defense that has so far looked shaky.

Ethan Laird is presently out with a hamstring injury, so Drameh may be given the chance to establish his claim at right-back straight away. Due to the strong start that the central defense duo of Dion Sanderson and Kevin Long has made to the season, Aiwu may have to wait his turn. The same goes for Burke, who has spent the most of his career acting as an impact replacement.
