WEST HAM NOW IN TALKS TO SIGN ‘CLASSY’ £26M GOAL MACHINE

West Ham United are exploring a late deal to sign Flamengo striker Pedro ahead of the transfer deadline later this week.

Flamengo striker Pedro is wanted at West Ham United with David Moyes targeting a late deal for a new striker.

That is according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who reports that West Ham are trying to snap up Pedro.

It’s stated that the Hammers want to get Pedro signed up in a deal worth around £26million ahead of the transfer deadline.

West Ham are understood to have started talks with Flamengo in the hope of convincing them to sell Pedro this week.

The Hammers have sold Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta this summer whilst there are continued rumours about Michail Antonio’s future.

Even Danny Ings is being linked away from West Ham so we could yet see Moyes sign more than one striker this week.

Who is West Ham United target Pedro?

Pedro started out in the Flamengo ranks but left as a teenager, ending up with Duquecaxiense, Artsul and then Fluminense.

That’s where Pedro started to make a real name for himself, smashing 31 goals in 93 appearances for Fluminense.

Fiorentina pounced in 2019 but Pedro had a tough time in Italy, managing just four appearances and no goals.

Pedro headed back to Brazil, joining Flamengo on loan in 2020.

23 goals in 54 games saw Flamengo turn the move permanent and Pedro just hasn’t stopped scoring in red and black.

Pedro has now racked up 97 goals in 200 games for Flamengo and has put himself in contention for another European move.

The 26-year-old even went to the World Cup with Brazil in 2022 and represents a burly, classic number nine option in attack.

That may be what West Ham want after selling Scamacca but both he and Sebastien Haller – classic target men – struggled under Moyes.

It’s also worth noting that Tottenham Hotspur have also been targeting Pedro of late.

The Independent reported in July that Spurs were considering Pedro as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

Spurs now seem to be focusing on more of a versatile forward in Brennan Johnson rather than a fixed centre forward like Pedro.

The Flamengo star – hailed as ‘classy’ by commentator Guy Mowbray – may still be on the Spurs radar but a move to West Ham seems much more likely now.
