Two unnamed English clubs watched Sheffield Wednesday target in action on Thursday

On Thursday, this Sheffield Wednesday transfer target was being observed by two unidentified English clubs.

Prior to the summer, Sheffield Wednesday had a few names on their transfer radar, but it appears that other teams were also interested in them.

Ian Poveda is one; with his Elland Road contract about to expire, the Owls hope to re-sign the Leeds United player this summer.

The Colombian winger, who made ten appearances for Sheffield Wednesday on loan during the second half of the 2023–24 season, is also favored by Burnley, Luton Town, and Sunderland, according to rumors that surfaced earlier in May.

Ike Ugbo, a striker, is another player that Sheffield Wednesday wants to re-sign, but the Owls have been urged to move quickly because Troyes probably wants to sell the Frenchman quickly given their league situation.

Additionally, Duncan McGuire is a name that the Owls are keeping an eye on. The USMNT forward was reportedly watched by Sheffield Wednesday, but he was unable to make the deadline-day move to Hillsborough.

On the day of the deadline in February, McGuire was on the verge of joining Sheffield Wednesday. The contest was won by Blackburn Rovers, but due to a paperwork error on the part of Rovers, McGuire would shortly return to Orlando City.

This year’s contract expires for him. Although Orlando has extended an offer to him, it appears that clubs in Europe may be keeping an eye on him this summer.

McGuire allegedly has offers from Europe and Belgium. However, the Lancashire Telegraph has since reported that “two unnamed English clubs” witnessed the 23-year-old during Thursday morning’s game versus Inter Miami.

At 00:30 GMT, Orlando played home to Inter Miami, a team that had Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets in their starting lineup. The match ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

In his 11 MLS games this season, McGuire has five goals. Additionally, he recently spoke with the potential of moving to Blackburn Rovers for the summer.

Lancashire Club continues to keep an eye on him.

McGuire stated, “It’s difficult to say.” That was a really terrible error made by them [Blackburn]. If you could convince me to go back there, I’d be willing to talk, but it would take a lot.

Were Sheffield Wednesday scouting Duncan McGuire? Given their continued interest in the player, it appears likely that Sheffield Wednesday was present, although it’s impossible to say for sure.

At the close of the previous season, the Owls appointed Kevin Beadell as head of recruitment. Later on, Beadell hinted that Wednesday will be searching the MLS for fresh players.

That would indicate Sheffield Wednesday’s early interest in McGuire, yet if the Owls have scouts in the States right now, they may choose to look at other players.

It’s possible that the two teams present were Wednesday and Blackburn. However, with attention from all around Europe and McGuire in top form, there
