‘Pretty bad mistake’ – Sheffield Wednesday target honest when asked about failed English move

Duncan McGuire’s January transfer window didn’t work out as he hoped – with both Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers failing to land his signature.

The Orlando City striker was involved in a dramatic back-and-forth on deadline day, during which he traveled to the UK only for his last-minute deal with Blackburn to fall through because of shoddy paperwork. At one point, he ended up in Sheffield as the Owls attempted to finalize a last-minute multi-million pound deal.

Even if it didn’t work out in the end, McGuire is still in high demand after scoring six goals in 13 games this season across all competitions. He acknowledged that the Rovers contract failure was disappointing and stated that he would need considerable persuasion to reconsider moving to Ewood Park.

McGuire told GOAL, “It’s hard to say.””They made a really poor mistake, and it was rather horrible. If you could convince me to go back there, I’d be willing to talk, but it would take a lot. I just felt like my tail was between my legs on the flight back. When I inquired about the frequency of this happening, my representative said, “This doesn’t happen.”

“I didn’t break up with my teammates or act in a way that suggested you were going to leave and then return. It was as though I had never left when I returned.”

It could be good news for Wednesday if they want to try to push something through for the USA international, but they might need to move quickly because, as The Star previously reported, two bids are rumored to have been made for the player, with interest also coming from Germany and Belgium in addition to England. A new contract has also been offered to him by Orlando.
