Report: Two Ex-Gators Access the Transfer Portal
Two former Gators made it to their new colleges for just one season before reentering the transfer portal.
College football players can use the transfer site, and two former Gators have reportedly returned after just one season at their new universities.
Corey Collier, a former defensive back with the Gators who played in just five games in 2021 and 2022, went to Nebraska last year. According to Matt Zenitz of 247sports, he didn’t do much better with the Cornhuskers and is back in the portal.
“Nebraska defensive back Corey Collier has entered the transfer portal, Chris Hummer and I have learned for 247sports,” Zenitz wrote on X. “Collier, a former top-100 recruit who transferred to Nebraska from Florida, played in five games for Nebraska last season.”
Collier was ranked by 247 as the No. 90 overall recruit when he signed with the Gators in 2021. With a sack and two tackles, he left Florida. In his five games at Nebraska, he failed to record a tackle.
David Conner, an offensive lineman, joined the Gators in 2022 but left after just one season to go to Colorado. On3’s Pate Nakos reports that he has returned to the portal.
“Colorado offensive lineman David Conner has entered the transfer portal, On3sports has learned,” Nakos stated on X.
On3 rated Conner as a three-star recruit in 2022. After his first season, he joined the Buffaloes under Deion Sanders, where he did not play for the Gators. Despite the offensive line struggles Sanders had in his rookie season, his Colorado Buffaloes bio states that he did not play for Colorado last season.
