Ten Auburn football storylines to monitor in the ten days leading up to kickoff
Ten narratives to follow as we near the end are listed below.
Ten days remain before college football kickoff.
I’d want to thank the other Week Zero Truthers.
It’s time to start putting the finishing touches on depth charts, projections, and storylines before launch of the 2022 season.
Dramatic conversations about the Auburn Tigers’ squad, both on and off the field, have always existed and always will.
Ten Auburn storylines to monitor as the days lead up to kickoff are listed below.
The quarterback competition for the Tigers is still going strong. TJ Finley is now the front-runner for the starting job, despite Zach Calzada having been the team’s starter for the majority of the summer.
There are several ways to forecast Finley’s position and the passing game going ahead if he is handed the starting role.
Finley finished the 2021 season with less than stellar stats. He may be benched in favor of Zach Calzada or Robby Ashford if he doesn’t improve. Regardless of production, Harsin doesn’t seem like the kind of coach to ride and die with one quarterback.
There’s also the possibility that Finley grows. Last season, he made three pinch starts in awkward scenarios that set him up for failure. Furthermore, he wasn’t well.
If nothing goes wrong, Finley might take over this offense and never look back.
Is there a chance the Tigers win 5-0 at the end of this run?
It isn’t as absurd as it sounds.
ESPN’s FPI currently predicts that Auburn will win its opening five games of the season. We’ll keep an eye on it to see if it changes (obviously, the odds for certain games would alter after a loss), but as of right now, it looks like an unbeaten Auburn squad will visit Samford Stadium on October 8th to play Georgia.
In 2021, Auburn’s offensive line struggled with run blocking. Even so many veterans are returning, a few new players made their way into the rotation during fall camp.
It’s unclear if the Tigers desired for those players to climb higher on the depth chart. It is understood that offensive line coach Will Friend must demonstrate his ability to improve the line’s up front push.
A friend entered the room as a recruiter. He hasn’t performed well in that area either thus far.
Auburn must witness an improvement in that unit.
