Observe: Tre Donaldson and Dylan Cardwell tried on Auburn football outfits.
Coach Freeze may summon Tre Donaldson or Dyland Cardwell if he needs an additional tight end or safety.

Dylan Cardwell, an Auburn center, and Tre Donaldson, a point guard, made the decision to put on football uniforms and take photographs.

Four-star safety Donaldson had originally committed to play football and basketball at Auburn, but he ultimately made the decision to focus just on basketball.

With his six-foot-eleven frame, Cardwell is not a person who many would expect on the football field, but picture Robby Ashford or Payton Thorne flinging him a fade in the red zone. To me, that seems like an automatic touchdown.

These two will be crucial members of Auburn’s basketball squad, which is expected to have a successful 2023–24 campaign.

Now let’s look at Cardwell and Donaldson all out in Auburn football gear.

Dylan Cardwell, a center from Auburn, has entered the NBA Draft for the second consecutive year. On Tuesday, the NBA issued a list of 242 names of early entrants, and Cardwell was included.

Cardwell, a rising senior, has until May 31 at 11:59 p.m. EST—that is, until the NCAA’s early withdrawal deadline—to decide whether to go back to Auburn.

Cardwell has averaged 13.3 minutes and 3.5 points per game in 93 career appearances. In 32 games as a junior, he averaged 3.7 points per game and got his first career start against Texas Southern.

At Auburn’s AMBUSH event in Atlanta on Wednesday, Auburn coach Bruce Pearl stated, “You’ve seen Wendell and Johni, Dylan and Jaylin all declare to make themselves eligible for the draft, which allows them to go work out, eligible to be invited to Chicago for the combine if that happens.” That typically serves as a highly reliable predictor of your likelihood of being selected.

“The G League combine is a few days prior to the NBA combine, which is on the 14th. You have to find out if you’re invited to that in order to find out if you’ll be drafted by then.”
