William Nylander of the Maple Leafs responds to the alleged $92 million contract extension
William Nylander, the right wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs, is acting evasive following reports that he is receiving a $92 million contract extension.

William Nylander, a right winger for the Toronto Maple Leafs, is attempting to play down the reports that he is receiving a contract extension from the team. Nylander isn’t exactly downplaying the notion, though. According to SportsNet, Nylander is anticipated to receive a $92 million contract extension. The forward may be getting almost $11 million annually.

According to the Toronto Sun, Nylander told reporters, “We’ll see,” in response to the SportsNet report. “To stay here and play for a team like that would be a dream. My residence is in Toronto.

Nylander said as much after putting up yet another outstanding performance. In the Maple Leafs’ 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, he scored two goals and provided an assist. Nylander has scored 54 points in 37 games this season. He has 33 assists in addition to his 21 goals. In terms of assists and points, he leads the Maple Leafs. His play carries over from last year’s strong campaign, in which Nylander scored a career-high number of points.

In the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division, Toronto is ranked third. With 20 wins this season and 47 points, the squad is just behind the Bruins and Panthers in the division. Given that Nylander has undoubtedly contributed significantly to that achievement, it becomes sense that the team would desire to continue moving ahead.

Throughout his NHL career, Nylander has participated in over 550 games and scored 198 goals. Toronto selected him in the first round of the 2014 NHL draft. The Sharks and Maple Leafs meet again on Tuesday in Toronto. It all starts at 7:00 Eastern.

The last year of his contract was a great year for right guard Robert Hunt. Despite playing in just 11 games due to injury, the Louisiana native was simply overpowering on the field. Pro Football Focus reports that the offensive lineman had the sixth-best PFF grade (76.4) out of 79 qualified guards at the end of the season. The Dolphins advanced to the postseason with his assistance, but they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round.
