Auburn’s Position Battles for 2023: Guard/Ofensive Line
In 2023, who will start at guard for Auburn football?
Here’s another entry in our series of 2023 position wars, this time concentrating on offensive line and emphasizing the guard position group. Once again, we ask: Who among these bright young men, both new and returning, can fulfill all the requirements for Coach Hugh Freeze and company and take home one of the highly sought-after starting guard positions for the Auburn Tigers in the upcoming 2023 campaign?
By tackling the recruiting and transfer portal trail this winter, the Tigers addressed a critical need. Along the road, we’ll be enhancing our offensive line rooms with some much-needed starting talent and depth. In the process, Coach Freeze upgraded and made a significant change to the position’s coaching leadership.
After serving in the same role for two seasons with the Ole Miss Rebels, Coach Thornton comes to Plains. Coach Thornton was able to lead the Rebels offense to a Top 10 total offensive rating both seasons while he was in Oxford, Mississippi. We argue for six players who will most likely put up outstanding performances this fall to earn their starting roles in the next 2023 season, despite the fact that Auburn has a wealth of bright young men to pick from in order to establish the proper balance and harmony along the offensive line this season.
Kameron Stutts, a returning senior and native of Killen, Alabama, has shown he is capable of playing guard in the 2023 NBA after putting on a strong performance in spring camp this year. After committing to Auburn in April 2017, the 6-foot-5, 343-pound offensive tackle has played in 34 games overall in his five years on the plains.
He enters the 2023 season in good health and with a strong desire to make an impression on the Auburn Tigers’ devoted fan base in addition to his colleagues on the field. Stutts presents a compelling argument for himself as the one who fulfills all the requirements for Coach Freeze to take the field.
