Lior Berman of Auburn will miss the remaining games due to an ACL injury.
The senior guard’s time at Auburn is up after five years.
Lior Berman, a fifth-year senior guard for Auburn, injured his ACL during Saturday’s 78-63 victory over Mississippi State, the program said on Sunday afternoon.
In a statement, Berman stated, “I want to give thanks to my coaches, staff, administration, teammates, and the Auburn family.” I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and wouldn’t swap it for anything. Together, let’s close off this season strong. Eagle of War!
With 9:45 left in the Tigers’ victory over the Bulldogs, Berman fell down. He charged the lane and seemed to stumble as he took a step in the direction of the basket. After grasping at his left knee for a few minutes on the ground, Berman needed assistance getting into the locker room.
Over the previous week, Pearl had given the 6-foot-4 guard a bigger role, starting Berman at the three-point position instead of Chris Moore. With six baskets in his past three games, including two 3-pointers, Berman has complied with Pearl’s request to provide more offensive options to the bench rotation this week. Prior to this, he had five field goals in SEC play.
“Our hearts genuinely ache for Lior,” a statement from Pearl said. “Over the last five years, he has had a significant impact on this program, leading to unprecedented success.” The Lord had other ideas when he had established himself as a key member of this year’s squad. I assure you that Lior’s conviction and faith will enable him to follow his goal of playing professionally in Israel the next year. Even if our team prevailed in a game yesterday, we still lost badly.
Berman joined the program as a walk-on for four seasons before receiving a scholarship during the previous summer. For the most of the season, Berman was Auburn’s 11th player in the starting lineup, averaging 6.4 minutes of play and 1.7 points per game.
