Transfer to Clemson Kelly Bryant relocates to Missouri
Missouri’s Columbia: As the previous season came to a close, Missouri supporters were relishing in quarterback Drew Lock’s last moments leading the Tigers’ attack and contemplating his successor for the upcoming season.
The response was revealed in a tweet Kelly Bryant sent late on December 4th, announcing his transfer to Missouri. After a Week 4 victory over Georgia Tech, the former Clemson star was benched in favor of rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who quickly rose to the top of the nation’s transfer market.
Bryant paid visits to a few universities, including as Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Auburn. However, he ultimately decided on Missouri and the opportunity to replace Lock, who most draft experts predict will be selected among the first quarterbacks selected in the NFL.
Missouri receiver Jalen Knox stated, “He only talks about Clemson when someone asks him a question.” “If he’s talking to us something football related, it’s always going to be about Mizzou.”
Bryant led the Tigers back to the playoffs the next season, but they were defeated by Alabama in the semifinals. Bryant was a member of the Clemson squad that won the national title in 2016.
However, he would rather forget about all of that accomplishment and the heartbreak of losing his starting position at Clemson. Bryant has “completely bought in,” according to Knox, to the Missouri initiative.
“His past at Clemson is behind him,” stated Albert Okwuegbunam, a tight end for Missouri. “This is a new chapter for him and he’s really embraced that.”
Bryant said that he is just thinking on the here and now, whether it be the final few days of spring practice or Saturday’s annual spring game for the program.
“We have a bunch of guys, from starters and also the guys behind them,” Bryant stated. “We have good quality depth at all positions.”
