Mike Williams has finally selected his next NFL team and signed a one-year, $15 million contract.
The primary domino of free agency that was still in place has now decided which way to go.
Former seventh overall pick in the 2017 draft, Mike Williams, was torn between joining the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Jets, or the Carolina Panthers.
as now, a choice has been made, as Williams is scheduled to sign with the New York Jets following a visit on Monday.
The Panthers, who have already acquired receiver Diontae Johnson through trade, are rebuilding with an intriguing new offensive coordinator and significant upgrades to their offensive lines and weaponry. Out of the three teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers are the most reliable and well-managed, having just acquired Russell Wilson.
But in the end, Mike Williams’ award will go to the New York Jets, led by Aaron Rodgers, a potential first ballot Hall of Famer.
And in many respects, it is not surprising at all: the Jets have improved their offensive line by adding dependable veteran Morgan Moses and All-Pro tackle Tyron Smith to help guard their most valuable player, Aaron Rodgers. They also have a top-5 defense and have not really lost any games in free agency.
It was just too wonderful to pass up the chance to team up with former Offensive Rookie of the Year Garret Wilson, and now we will hopefully get to witness a Jets offensive in full force, fighting in the very competitive AFC conference.
