Four Indicators That Point To Auburn’s 2025 Class of Prospects Getting to Know “Elite”
Will Auburn get beyond a few challenges to bring in a top-tier recruiting class for 2025?
Auburn’s journey to become a top recruiting program won’t be simple.
Auburn will face several hurdles, including all-too-familiar rivals in the recruiting game, but the team needs to overcome numerous formidable obstacles in order to have the recruiting success necessary to be a regular contender for the SEC and national championship.
These are the four obstacles the Tigers must overcome in order to have a top-tier recruiting class in 2025.
1) The Tigers must win the state of Alabama. According to Max Preps, five in-state recruits were selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. In 2022, 12 former Alabama prep players came away from the Draft as being selected.
The state of Alabama is where Auburn must do its best work; 11 of the Tigers’ 2024 signees hail from inside the state of Alabama. That’s a tremendous job by the Auburn staff.
Now, keep going in that direction and add a few more truly dominant players like Elba (Ala.) High School’s Alvin Henderson, an outstanding in-state running back, and hopefully elite defenders like Eric Winters, a hybrid linebacker/safety, and Zion Grady of Enterprise (Ala.) High School, who play defensive end and defensive end, respectively.
2) Sign even more top recruits from the state of Georgia. While the Yellowhammer State is Auburn’s bread and butter, the Peach State is a close second. 23 former Georgia prep players drafted last year is a sign of just how good the talent is one state over. Further, it’s the No. 1 state for NFL talent, per capita, per the NFL’s website called Play Football. For the record, Alabama is third per capita.
Auburn does a good job at recruiting Georgia. Is winning an SEC title sufficient? No, not just yet. The quantity of Georgia recruits signing with Auburn is not the only factor to consider. More outstanding talent must arrive on the Plains. In the 2025 class, Auburn must regularly choose one of the top five players in Georgia, and it must keep up this trend from there.
