Nuno hopes that Forest can “compete” with the “better” Cherries.

NEW This Saturday, Nottingham Forest’s head coach Nuno Espirito Santo anticipates his team to “compete” against a “improved” Cherries team.

Tomorrow afternoon (3pm), Andoni Iraola’s Cherries will be visiting the City Ground looking to extend their winning streak over Forest to five games.

Following a run of 13 games without a victory, the Tricky Trees decided to fire Steve Cooper earlier this week, and after dropping to fourth place, they turned to former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno.

“They’re a good team, they have improved a lot recently, so we expect a tough game, but we’re at the City Ground and our fans are going to be very important.

“We want to play good and compete.

“To compete in the Premier League is very hard.

“Forest started well this season, then for different situations things didn’t go so well.

“We have a good group of players, a squad that needs to become better, but I’m happy with what we have.

“Based on what I’ve observed thus far, I feel certain that our relationship is going well. The first stage is that the players appreciate and collaborate with one another.”

With just three days to get his new team ready for the match on Saturday, Nuno, the Portuguese manager, is seeking to instill confidence in the Nottingham team.

He said, “We had a good first training session and got to spend time with the players.”

“The players’ expertise, my opportunity to spend one-on-one time with them, my understanding of them, and their knowledge of my coaching staff and our ideas are what matter most.

“We are driven to make improvements even if there are many things that need to be done.

“What I found was a good atmosphere among the players, they are engaged and now we have to commit ourselves to improving things, starting Saturday.”
