Among Nottingham Forest’s thirty new additions after their promotion is Keylor Navas. Let’s get to know them all.
Ever since securing their eagerly anticipated return to the Premier League in the summer, Nottingham Forest has outperformed even Chelsea in terms of transfer activity in the top division.
Following their playoff-based promotion from the Championship, Forest desperately needed to add more players to their limited roster in order to handle the demands of playing at the highest level. When it signed 21 new players in the summer of 2022, it created a lot of noise.
That was sufficient to surpass the 19 players who signed with Scottish teams Dundee in the summer of 2000 and Livingston in the summer of 2001, shattering the British record for the most players signed by one club in a single transfer window.
Forest had a very rough start to life in the Premier League, winning just one of their first eleven games. However, over time, the team managed to find their footing and avoid sinking to the bottom of the standings, and as of February, they are in 13th place, four points above the relegation zone.
The Reds continued where they left off in the summer and added multiple players to their roster in January, bringing a total of seven new faces to Trentside in an attempt to increase their chances of surviving. Not to mention that, just to keep the club’s HR department on their toes, they signed three free players outside of the two transfer periods.
Who precisely comprises Forest’s sizable class of 2022–2023 signings? Meet them all, please.
After scoring 20 goals in 43 appearances for Union Berlin the previous season, former Liverpool striker Awoniyi became the first (but certainly not the last) summer recruit to surpass the club’s transfer record.
After being signed by Manchester United at the age of 14, Henderson advanced through the youth system but was frequently sent out on loan to gain experience. It was during this time, in 2020–21, while on loan at Sheffield United, that Henderson made his Premier League debut. The next season, the goalkeeper played 13 league games for United; however, he was unable to unseat David de Gea as the starting goalkeeper, so the 25-year-old decided to go on another loan to Forest in an attempt to improve his chances of being included in England’s 2022 World Cup squad. Despite this, he was not picked to travel to Qatar.
