Commanders Coach Dan Quinn is “extremely happy” for Cowboys LB Micah Parsons.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons spoke highly of Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn during the NFL Pro Bowl Games.

Washington, D.C. Dan Quinn was officially hired by the Washington Commanders as their new head coach on Saturday.

Linebacker Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys said they too have someone the Commanders should be lucky to work for in the next campaign.

Even if he comes from a franchise that the majority of Washington supporters detest seeing succeed.

“Super happy for him, not because he went to the rival, just because Q’s like a big uncle to me,” while at the NFL’s Pro Bowl Games. “I know how much this means for him and I know (it’s) a step he wanted to take. He stayed with me as long as he could but I know any team out there is lucky to have him.”

The Cowboys drafted Parsons out of Penn State University the same year Quinn arrived at the franchise to become their defensive coordinator.

Originally projected to be one of the better off-ball linebackers in the 2021 NFL Draft class Parsons spent the last three seasons becoming Quinn’s multi-tool defender who lined up anywhere the formation and situation called for him to be most effective. As a result, Parsons has gone to three straight Pro Bowls while earning two First-Team All-Pro selections, and Quinn has earned a second shot at being an NFL head coach.

Parsons contends that Quinn’s character is what elevates him above the others and makes him a player Commanders should aspire to play for.

“They’re getting a real upstanding guy,” Parsons said. “I’m hoping that guys commit to him and give it their all. And realise that nobody—not even Dan Quinn—will love them and care more for them. Please take care of my buddy, respect his awesomeness, and be grateful for his existence.”
