NRL contract update: Manly Sea Eagles’ Ben Trbojevic re-signs
Ben Trbojevic, a talented backrower, has signed a three-year contract extension with Manly to keep him with the Sea Eagles through at least the conclusion of the 2027 campaign.
Alongside his elder brothers, Tom and Jake, the 22-year-old had a fantastic debut season in 2023, participating in 12 games and beginning to show off his enormous potential.
“As it is, he is vying for a starting spot.
In addition to recognizing Ben’s growth, we also hope to honor his potential for the following three years.
“Obviously the connection and cohesion the three Trbojevic brothers bring to the team as local juniors is something that is really special.”
Ben Trbojevic made his local team debut in 2021 and played in four games that season before being sidelined by injury for the next two years, totaling 22 games.
Originally selected for the team in the centers, the 22-year-old moved to the backrow last season, where he now sees a chance to establish himself as an NRL regular.
“I just want to put my best foot forward and be in that 17 each week,” Trbojevic stated.
“Obviously, I want to get started. I thought I made significant progress toward being an edge back-rower last year.
“I enjoy playing in the back row a lot. You just never leave the game. It’s a really significant role on the squad. All I want to do for Manly is do my hardest every week.”
Locking down yet another junior who had advanced through the club’s pathways program, according to Seibold, was another indication that Manly was moving in the right direction.
“By extending Ben out for a further three years, it means we have got guys like him, Tolu Koula, Haumole Olakauátu, Taniela Paseka, Josh Schuster, as well as Jake and Tom Trbojevic, all here for the next period of time,” Seibold said.
“We feel like we have got the squad in good shape.”
In the off-season, the team signed a number of players, including Luke Brooks, Tommy Talau, and Jaxson Paulo, for Seibold’s second season in charge.
With the departures of Sean Keppie, Morgan Boyle, Kaeo Weekes, Morgan Harper, Kelma Tuilagi, and Samuela Fainu, the Sea Eagles have had a significant upheaval in their playing roster.
Christian Tuipulotu was also released earlier in the week, and the winger joined the Dragons.
