‘Definitely Wants’ to Re-Sign With Texans Jonathan Greenard
Jonathan Greenard, a defensive end, is someone the Houston Texans are interested in re-signing. And Greenard says it’s a reciprocal emotion.

Leading the way were Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr. and seasoned player Jonathan Greenard, who collectively made the Houston Texans’ pass rush one of the most effective in the NFL in 2023.

Regretfully for the Texans, Greenard—half of that combination—is expected to be a highly sought-after free agent this summer, commanding an estimated $47.5 million over three years, according to Pro Football Focus.

DeMeco Ryans mentioned on Tuesday that the Texans are interested in having Greenard return to Houston. Furthermore, Greenard disclosed that interest is reciprocal in a recent interview with KPRC 2.

“Dude, they know I adore Houston by now,” Greenard remarked. I sincerely want to return, but as we all know, it is not up to me. There’s not much more I can do at this time. I believe that by putting my portfolio out there and closing that chapter, the rest will work itself out. I’ll be ten toes down if they get me back, but if not, it’s just a game. If this is the final instance, I will truly appreciate it.

Greenard, who is starting his fifth NFL season, has played for Houston the previous four seasons. In the previous three, he was mainly unreliable.

But Greenard had a career-best year last season under Ryans, with 12.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 32 pressures, and 22 quarterback hits.

Although he is grateful for the chance and the support Houston has given him, he understands that the club will eventually make the final call.

Grennard remarked, “I’m grateful for the opportunity Houston has given me.” “They remained in my life throughout time. Despite my injuries and everything else, they had the option to leave at any time, yet they stayed by my side. I can only express my gratitude for the chance they have given me. I’m grateful for everything, but it’s not up to me to determine if this is the final time.
