Philippe Coutinho, an offensive midfielder for Aston Villa, is anticipated to depart Villa Park soon.
Philippe Coutinho, an offensive midfielder for Aston Villa, is “a waste of space” around the team, according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who gives GIVEMESPORT his assessment of the flop’s prospects at Villa Park.
Before last weekend’s 3-0 loss at Liverpool, Emery stated at his pre-game news conference that Coutinho was getting close to leaving Villa and joining Al Duhail of Qatar.
“We’re waiting to see if the transaction is finalized, but Coutinho is almost ready to depart. First and foremost, we must always accept Philippe for who he is as a person, according to Emery (via BirminghamLive).
“Secondly, he has demonstrated exceptional skill as a player. Due to injuries, he has not been consistent. We spoke with him and agreed to try and see if we can let him go if it is in his best interests as well as the interests of the team and the club. That’s when he’ll be able to see his impressive play. Then, it will depend on whether he finishes it.”
After enjoying a good loan stay in the second part of the 2021–2022 season, Coutinho signed a permanent move to play at Villa Park for £17 million last summer. However, Emery’s developing Villans team has left the former Liverpool star behind since he has not performed at the same level as he did in the first half of the season.
Jones feels that Coutinho’s failure to have an influence on the team will be a “let down” if he stays at Villa past the closing of the remaining transfer windows worldwide.
According to the transfer source, Coutinho might yet leave Aston Villa, as GIVEMESPORT reported. If Coutinho remains a player for Villa after all other transfer windows have closed, it will be a bit of a letdown. Right now, he seems like a player that is a waste of space on the team. You can’t afford to have a big-name player who doesn’t have a significant influence on the squad.
“Since everything else is so new, I don’t think having someone who’s gone stale like Coutinho will help the squad at all. Villa are looking to build something new.”
