The Lions released a statement announcing Lemonier’s passing and expressing their “shock and sadness.”
“Jessie was a wonderful young man and a model teammate who is gone far too soon,” the squad posted on social media.

Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos, was among many who sent condolences for the late Lions player in the comments section. Wilson reposted the post with an emoji of a praying hand.
Lemonier joined the Flames’ history as the third player to record 10 or more sacks in a season while playing at Liberty University as an undrafted free agent.
After being selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2020 NFL Draft, Lemonier appeared in six games before being released in August of 2021.
A month later, he signed with the practice squad of the Lions and was added to the active roster. With 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 7 games, he was rather active.
