Dallas Cowboys project DaRon Bland’s future as a star wide receiver to replace the injured Trevon Diggs.
Coach Mike McCarthy thinks DaRon Bland will play at a high level for years to come. The Dallas Cowboys have watched Bland shine in place of the injured Trevon Diggs.

DaRon Bland, a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, took a position late in the first quarter of the team’s 43-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams at AT&T Stadium. He waited for Rams receiver Cooper Kupp to pass the line of scrimmage.

Kupp broke left and sprinted forward. Bland ducked under teammate Jordan Lewis, who had Rams receiver TuTu Atwell covered, and lunged in Kupp’s direction.

Shortly after, the 24-year-old Bland found himself in the endzone, gesturing towards the sideline and striking a photo op alongside his teammates.

With three pick-sixes this season, Bland leads all NFL players. He has nine interceptions through just 13 starts after being selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Bland has had a significant impact on Dallas’ defense despite his inexperience, but experienced safety Jayron Kearse, a teammate, doesn’t find it shocking.

“He had five picks last year; that stopped after last year,” Kearse stated. We arrived this year… He’s doing everything I’ve asked him to do, and that’s great.”

The Cowboys were in dire need of Bland’s rise, as they had lost top cornerback Trevon Diggs to a ruptured ACL before Week 3, ending his season.

Diggs has established himself as one of the top ballhawks in the league. Bland is happy with his performance in lieu of the two-time Pro Bowler and is rapidly working toward becoming a part of that discourse.

It’s quite meaningful, Bland stated. Diggs, as you may recall, had a constant desire to catch the ball. It feels fantastic to be able to jump in even just now.”

nd’s previous pick-six occurred in Week 4 against the New England Patriots. Subsequently, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy expounded on his discipline, and quarterback Dak Prescott mentioned the practical application of his practice work.

Bland has only allowed 11 catches on 23 targets this year, and McCarthy believes the best is yet to come. The results are still coming in for Bland.

McCarthy remarked, “He’s very intuitive and has excellent ball skills.” “For such a young player, he is really reliable. not just what he accomplished last year, but also the year before. He will play for a very long time.

When the Cowboys go to Philadelphia for a pivotal NFC East game on Sunday, Bland will attempt to maintain his high level of performance.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. CST. Bland had an interception in the two teams’ last game of the previous season, and he’ll want to do the same this time.
