When the Philadelphia Eagles played the New York Giants in Week 18, they made some unsettling offensive news. The news is not encouraging for the Eagles’ playoff game the following week.
The Eagles have lost four of their past five games as they have experienced a late-season collapse. To win the NFC East, the Eagles will need to defeat the Giants on Sunday and pray that the Dallas Cowboys fall to the Washington Commanders.
Star wide receiver DeVonta Smith will not play against the Giants because to an ankle issue, the Eagles said. This week, Smith has been absent from all three Eagles sessions.
Following the release of a photo showing the wide receiver exiting the stadium in Week 17 while using crutches and a walking boot, head coach Nick Sirianni stated he anticipated Smith being available to play the Giants this week. Smith reported that this week he was “feeling good.”
This week’s events did not unfold as expected, and the Eagles may suffer consequences in the postseason. Smith’s complete lack of practice this week is alarming. Smith’s injury may restrict his options in the Wild Card round, if he is able to participate. One of the Eagles’ primary goals doesn’t need to be destroyed during the playoffs.
