Philadelphia Eagles Make Decision On Matt Patricia After Defensive Collapse
In week 17, the Philadelphia Eagles embarrassingly fell apart against the Cardinals. The defense gave up 29 points in the second half after leading 21–6 at the break. The Eagles’ offensive stagnated, and they ultimately lost. The club changed the defensive playcalling because the defense has been an issue the entire season. The plays would now be called by Matt Patricia. Head coach Nick Sirianni made his decision regarding Patricia going forward after the game.
The Philadelphia Eagles Decide About Matt In his postgame interview, Patricia Sirianni stated that he is sticking with his decision to promote Patricia.
I always consider the team’s needs and what’s best for them before making any decisions or actions. I tried to do what was best for the team when I made the changes a few weeks ago. I continue to think that
Sirianni is persevering, but the results have not been encouraging. They surrendered 221 running yards, 32 first downs, and 449 total yards on Sunday. When you have to stop some of the league’s elite offenses, this will not convert into success in the playoffs.
Can Eagles Win It All?
Although there are some glaring gaps, the Super Bowl team from the previous season is still largely intact. Their linebackers are terrible, and not even the greatest defensive play caller could cover up some of their shortcomings. Receivers are free to roam around, and the secondary has sustained injuries. They struggle to stop the run, something the Cardinals exploited on Sunday, even though their pass rush can be frightening at times. Patricia has demonstrated that he is not the best defensive coach, which makes the item peculiar, but there are other issues as well.
Can the Philadelphia Eagles make some necessary improvements before to the postseason? The race for another Super Bowl berth is about to begin in a few weeks, and they are running out of time.
