Son of former Giants QB logs onto transfer website
E.J. Warner wants to move into a new house.
Son of former Giants quarterback Kurt Warner, the quarterback for Temple made an announcement on Tuesday indicating that he plans to use the transfer portal when its 45-day window opens on Monday. Over the course of his two seasons in Philadelphia, he made 21 appearances.
Warner is still eligible for two more years.
Warren wrote in a note he posted on X, “Today is both a tough and an exciting one as I have decided to enter my name in the transfer portal and explore the possibilities for my football future.”
Warner is coming off a strong sophomore campaign in which he started 12 games for the Owls and passed for 3,076 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions on 57.5% of passes (256-of-445 throwing). He achieved the 3,000 passing yard milestone for the second straight season; in 2022, as a true freshman, he passed for 3,028 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions at a 60.5% clip (268-of-443).
In both of Warner’s Temple seasons, he started versus Rutgers, including the season before at Lincoln Financial Field, when he made his debut. In his two outings, both resulted in losses for the Owls, he completed 39-of-79 passes (49.4%) for 445 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Kurt Warner coached a young Eli Manning during his tenure with the Giants in 2004. In Super Bowl XXXIV, Warner, a two-time NFL MVP, led the St. Louis Rams to victory.
As a high school prospect, E.J. Warner received 11 offers, according to 247Sports.com, but he only visited Temple and UConn. This time around, he ought to attract a lot more attention.
