Ottawa Senators goalie Anton Forsberg will be out indefinitely after being injured in Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers in Ottawa.
Senators GM Pierre Dorion said Sunday that Forsberg is out due to an MCL tear in both knees and is likely out for the season.
Forsberg was injured late in the third period Saturday and had to be removed from the ice on a stretcher.
literally couldn’t do anything. I’m stuck on him because there’s a guy who’s on top of me pushing me in,” Hyman said.
The Senators have recalled goalie Kevin Mandolese from the Belleville Sens.
Dorion also said defenceman Jake Sanderson will be out for a minimum of 10 days due to an upper body injury.
“We’re probably looking at two weeks,” Dorion said.
The Senators’ 6-3 loss to Edmonton was their first game since Jan. 31. The team hosts Calgary Monday ahead of a Tuesday night game in New York against the Islanders.

Mirco Mueller of the New Jersey Devils was stretchered off the ice after collapsing headfirst into the boards.
New Jersey Devils defenseman Mirco Mueller is wheeled off the ice on a stretcher after being injured during the third period of an NHL hockey game against the Calgary Flames Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, in Newark, N.J. The Flames defeated the Devils
Devils defenseman Mirco Mueller needed to be taken off the ice on a stretcher after crashing head first into the boards during the third period of Wednesday’s game against the Calgary Flames at Prudential Center in Newark.
Devils coach John Hynes said Mueller was sitting up and responsive after being taken off the ice, and he was taken to University Hospital from the arena, where the Devils said he was alert and oriented with full movement and feeling in his extremities.
Following a 2-on-1 rush with teammate Travis Zajac, Mueller stumbled at the left post following a shot attempt. Calgary Flames forward Michael Frolik then fell onto Mueller, causing the two to crash hard into the boards behind the Flames’ net.
Mueller took the brunt of the collision, with his head hitting the boards just after their bodies hit the ice.
The defenseman stayed motionless on the ice while trainers rushed to the ice and medics brought a stretcher across the rink. Before he was stabilized on the stretcher, Mueller moved his feet on the ice.
As he was being wheeled off, Mueller gave a thumbs up to the crowd, and he was talking to trainers as they moved.
