Justin Turner of the Red Sox provides an update after taking a fastball to face: There are no shattered bones or teeth.

NORTH PORT, FLORIDA — Justin Turner will be fine.

One day after being hit in the face by a pitch, Turner took to social media on Tuesday to express gratitude for “all the messages and prayers.”

Turner stated on Twitter, “I’m feeling very fortunate to have come out of yesterday with no breaks and all my chiclets in tact.” “The @RedSox medical staff and @Lee_Health have been absolutely amazing & I’m going to be back out on the field as soon as possible!”

Red Sox Injuries and Roster Changes

This page will be updated to reflect any Red Sox transactions and injury updates made throughout the offseason. Players on the 60-day injured list at the end of the season will have to be added back onto the 40-man roster after the World Series.

RHP Chris Martin (viral infection)
Expected return:
 2024
Martin’s breakout season at 37 years old ended a few days early when the Red Sox placed him on the injured list on Sept. 28 due to a viral infection. Martin posted a 1.05 ERA in 55 games (51 1/3 innings) this season, the lowest mark of any pitcher with at least 30 innings pitched in 2023.

The right-hander finished his season with a career-high 20 consecutive scoreless appearances since July 30, logging 19 innings in that span. (Last updated: Sept. 28)

INF Luis Urías (left calf strain)
Expected return: 2024
The infielder injured his calf in the game at Texas on Sept. 20 and the Red Sox thought it made sense to shut him down for the rest of the season.

“He felt something,” manager Alex Cora said. “It’s nothing serious, but we didn’t think he would be available for the next four or five days, so it doesn’t make sense to push him.” (Last updated: Sept. 22)

1B Triston Casas (right shoulder bursitis)
Expected return: 2024
An MRI exam on Sept. 17 revealed bursitis in Casas’ right shoulder, and it is all but certain he won’t play again this season. Casas has been dealing on and off with right shoulder discomfort for most of September. When it worsened for a couple of days, the club placed him on the IL on Sept. 16 (retroactive to Sept. 15).

Casas has had a strong rookie season, slashing .263/.367/.490 with 24 homers and 65 RBIs. (Last updated: Sept. 22)

LHP Joely Rodríguez (right hip)
Expected return:
 2024
Rodríguez, who has had a lost season with three separate stints on the injured list. He had finally gotten into a nice groove before suffering a hip injury that led to the club placing him on the injured list on July 31. (Last updated: Sept. 17)

LHP James Paxton (right knee inflammation)
Expected return:
 2024
A tough post-All-Star break portion of the season ended abruptly for Paxton, who was placed on the injured list prior to the game on Sept. 10 due to a right knee that has been “barking” for a bit, according to Red Sox manager Alex Cora.

Paxton won’t pitch again this season. In 19 starts covering 96 innings, he went 7-5 with a 4.50 ERA. (Last updated: Sept. 10)

60-day IL

RHP Kaleb Ort (right elbow inflammation)
Expected return: 2024
Ort last pitched for the Red Sox on July 4. He was originally placed on the 15-day injured list on July 7 (retroactive to July 5). However, he was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 26 to clear room for trade acquisition Mauricio Llovera. (Last updated: Sept. 17)

RHP Corey Kluber (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return:
 2024
Kluber’s season is over. Rather than having the veteran righty make a third Minor League rehab appearance, the decision was made for Kluber to go home for the rest of the season and focus on rehab. Kluber does feel healthy. His season with the Red Sox was marred by ineffectiveness (3-6, 7.04 ERA) and injuries — he didn’t pitch for Boston after June 20. Kluber is a free agent this offseason. (Last updated: Sept. 16)

OF Jarren Duran (left toe contusion)
Expected return: 2024
Duran underwent a successful left great toe flexor tendon repair on Aug. 30. The procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson at the Charlotte Surgical Center in Charlotte, N.C. Duran expects to be fully healthy about a month before Spring Training starts.

Prior to the injury, Duran had the best season of his career, slashing .295/.346/.482 with 34 doubles, two triples and eight homers while stealing 24 bases in 26 attempts. (Last updated: Sept. 8)

INF Adalberto Mondesi (torn left ACL)
Expected return: TBD
Mondesi recently restarted baseball activities after a long layoff, only to be shut down again. The infielder hasn’t been able to “clear the final hurdle,” as manager Alex Cora put it, in his attempted recovery from an injury he suffered last April with the Royals. (Last updated: Aug. 16)

Wyatt Mills (Torn UCL) RHP
The earliest possible return date is 2024.
On July 5, the sidewinder underwent Tommy John surgery, effectively ruining his chances of pitching for the Red Sox this season. Mills was injured in the middle of Spring Training.

Mills was acquired by the Red Sox in December as part of a three-team trade with the Braves and Royals. In 27 games for the Mariners and Royals last season, he recorded a 4.60 ERA.
