The Bengals should prioritize running back at the trade deadline due to Chase Brown’s injury.
Cincy, Ohio Chase Brown, a rookie running back for the Bengals, hurt his hamstring on Thursday. He is out this week and may miss more games due to the injury.
Although they haven’t used him much in their first six games, there have been whispers that he will see more touches going forward.
Rather, one of the Bengals’ most significant vulnerabilities worsened.
Leading the way with 366 running yards and one touchdown is Joe Mixon. This season, he has played 283 (74%) offensive snaps. The Bengals were privately hopeful that Brown would be able to step up and play a bigger part going forward, to keep Mixon fresh and add some explosive to the running game.
Now that Brown is out and could miss multiple games, the Bengals have to entertain the idea of trading for or signing a running back that can help them.
The trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Cincinnati is projected to have nine picks (two compensatory) in the 2024 NFL Draft.
They don’t traditionally acquire players via trade midseason, but a move makes too much sense.
Adding a piece would make life easier on Mixon, take pressure off of Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and an offense that has been limited throughout the season.
