Three Hawks fly away as an Irishman flies the nest.
Before the 2024 season, Hawthorn has made three more alterations to their roster.

Emerson Jeka, a key position player, was one of three players delisted by Hawthorn on Tuesday.

Standing at 198cm, Jeka’s dismissal comes as a surprise given the club’s lack of significant options following Jacob Koschitzke’s trade request to Richmond last week.

Injury-plagued Josh Morris and Fionn O’Hara, both from Ireland, have also been informed that their contracts will not be renewed for 2024.

Jeka was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2019 rookie draft and has appeared in just seven games for the Brown and Gold over the last two seasons.

Morris made 15 appearances over four seasons after being drafted at No.57 in 2019.

O’Hara joined as a Category B rookie with the Hawks towards the end of 2021 but was unable to make an AFL debut.

Mark McKenzie, Hawthorn’s recruiting and list manager, commended the three for their contributions.

“All three have been great teammates and showed a high level of professionalism during their time in the brown and gold,” he stated.

Max Lynch discontinued his career earlier this season after doctors advised him to do so due to recurrent concussions.
