Blackburn Rovers’ injury list and anticipated comeback dates following Dom Hyam’s update
Blackburn Rovers were without numerous players against Plymouth Argyle, including Dom Hyam, who was substituted at half-time.

After losing to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, Blackburn Rovers had two weeks to recuperate and work on the training ground.

The 3-0 loss at Home Park was far from ideal for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s squad to end on. The scoreline did not reflect the entire game, with Rovers wasting opportunities in crucial times.

They enter the international break with seven points from their first five games. Two wins, two losses, and a draw were mixed in.

Tomasson knows who he’ll be working with for the rest of the season now that the transfer window has closed. Injuries have also contributed to the squad being stretched in the early stages of the season.

Hyam, Dom
At Home Park, the Blackburn Rovers defender was hauled off due to illness. As a result, he should be returning after the international break.

“He wasn’t feeling well,” Tomasson explained. I’m not sure why; it could be because it’s been a really busy week with a lot of traveling and sitting in a bus with air conditioning.”

Rankin-Costello, Joe
After suffering a groin injury against Watford, the right-back missed both games last week. He is likely to return after the international break, with the injury not considered significant.

“Joe is not ready,” Tomasson remarked. It will not be a long process, but he will be unable to participate (against Plymouth).

Middlesbrough (H) is expected to return on September 16.

Ennis, Niall
The striker suffered a knee injury against Rotherham United, delaying his start at Ewood Park. Tomasson initially ruled him out for two weeks.

“I feel sorry for the boy because I think he had shown some good progress and some good football,” Tomasson added. He was almost in shape, and this is a setback.”

Middlesbrough (H) is expected to return on September 16.

Sigurdsson, Arnor
After hurting his groin in pre-season, the summer addition has yet to play a competitive game for Rovers. He could return to training after the international break, but Rovers want to be cautious with his workload after being out for two months.

“No, he is not ready (to play behind closed doors),” Tomasson remarked. They will get three or four days off over the break, and some players may travel. Hopefully, he can then begin to practice and gain some playing time. It’s a slow process, but it’s moving in the right direction, which is encouraging.”

The anticipated return date is October.

Barnes, Sam
After suffering a thigh injury, the teenage defender will be out for four months. It’s a major setback for the Rovers academy product, who has just recently returned from a long-term knee ailment.

“Sam Barnes has an injury that will take longer, so I really feel sorry for him,” Tomasson added. It’s not fun for wounded athletes, and it’s especially disheartening given his track record. I feel terrible for the boy. He had already had injuries in the young team, as well as his cruciate ligament damage.
