Major injury blow to Blackburn Rovers before Sunderland matchup
Before Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers suffered a significant injury blow.
Despite suffering the injury over the weekend, Jon Dahl Tomasson had initially anticipated the striker would be fine. After going down for treatment, Semir Telalovic took over for Gallagher on the hour.
But it has now been determined that the injury is more serious than initially thought, and he will be out until November. This is a serious setback for Rovers and Gallagher, who had impressed in his past two starts after missing the first few games of the season due to an injury.
“[Sam] Gallagher] is injured, and I was surprised that he will take 5/6/7 weeks when we got the scan yesterday,” Tomasson said to RoversTV. I feel terrible sadness for him and the team.

“Sam is a crucial player, although he has sustained numerous injuries. The youngster is a fine young man with a fine mentality and a fine attitude, so I feel bad for him. We cannot, however, alter it.
We need to consider our choices, he continued. Tyrhys Dolan has played in that position before, Harry Leonard can play there, Sam Szmodics has played as a false 9, and Ryan Hedges can play there. Semir Telalovic has just arrived. We have choices.
Due to Gallagher’s injury, Telalovic might get his first Championship start on Wednesday against Sunderland. Niall Ennis is still out, therefore Harry Leonard, who started the season’s first three league games, is another option. Last year, Ryan Hedges, Sam Szmodics, and Tyrhys Dolan all made appearances as false nines at various points.
Lewis Travis, who also competed against Middlesbrough, had better news. The skipper should be well enough to continue his perfect start rate in the league this season.
“We know that [Lewis] Travis is a warrior, he’s tough, and I think he’ll be alright for tomorrow,” he said. Although [Niall] Ennis is still out, this week he will resume training. Tomorrow (Wednesday), [Jake] Batty will play versus Hertha (Berling).”
After defeating Queens Park Rangers 3-1 over the weekend, Sunderland comes to Ewood Park in fine form. That came after a 5-0 demolition of Southampton just before the break.
It’s anticipated that the game at Ewood Park would be open, lively, and filled with compelling narrative. Bradley Dack makes his first return after being released in the summer, while Tony Mowbray is back at Rovers for the second time.
Tomasson is cognizant of Sunderland’s threat because they are particularly strong on the counterattack. He is anticipating what should be an intriguing competition.
They have quality as a squad, according to Tomasson. There are many skilled technical players that enjoy dribbling one against one. Like last season, we are roughly at parity in the league. The game is going to be fantastic.
“We all know the quality of Dacky,” he continued. He was a fantastic performer for Rovers as they recovered from two terrible injuries. Prior to his re-injury in January and December of last year, he was crucial to us.
