We’ve all heard about Dan Mason’s injury, and if you saw it, you’ll understand why he’s still out.
ESPN’s Brian Bennett received a brief status update on Mason’s injury from head coach Todd Graham, which he buried in one of his recent columns.
Mason had a difficult season last year, beginning with a demotion for his role as a passenger in an alleged hit-and-run involving Jason Douglas. Then there was the horrific leg damage.
Dave Wannstedt was optimistic about a full recovery at the moment. However, information has been scarce and difficult to get by since then.
The feud between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher was the most venomous we’d witnessed between college football coaches.
The accusation that Texas A&M bought every athlete in their 2022 recruiting class brought this feud to light. Nick Saban went on a verbal rant against the NIL, tossing Jimbo Fisher under the bus in the process. What happened next was unprecedented; a reaction that has become iconic.
Bennett spoke with Graham, and nothing has changed, and Mason is still in pain:
Linebacker Dan Mason, who dislocated his knee in last year’s Miami game, will also miss the spring. Graham described his injury as a “month-to-month” occurrence.
Month to month definitely implies a longer term commitment. I have no knowledge of the injury, so take this with a grain of salt. But hearing that (combined with Graham’s lack of optimism) makes it sound like Mason will be out for the majority of the year, if not all of it. Again, I’m not basing it on anything other than my own, stupid ideas, but the lack of a schedule from Graham (who, granted, is still new to the job) doesn’t sound promising.
