Declan Rice cannot be replaced at West Ham, but Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse are the ideal replacements, according to Jarrod Bowen
Despite being “gutted” by Declan Rice’s departure from West Ham, Jarrod Bowen claims the additions of James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez have already shown their worth.
As the team won three of its first four games, the Hammers recouped £105 million from the loss of former captain Rice by signing deals for Ward-Prowse, Alvarez, Konstantinos Mavropanos, and Mohammed Kudus.
Their development has been hindered by consecutive losses to Manchester City and Liverpool, but according to Bowen, it was obvious from away that David Moyes had made the right investments.
Bowen said: “I was gutted, but it was always the saga every window: was Dec going, was Dec not going?” when discussing Rice on Rio Ferdinand’s VIBE with FIVE.

“Since we understood the caliber of player we were losing in Dec, we had to make prudent investments for life without him. Finding a direct substitute for Dec is challenging because I can’t think of many people who are better at what he does. We’ve had a great start, and the new additions have contributed significantly to the team.
The only person who can compete with Dec is Rodri, he continued. Casemiro, who has excelled at both United and Real Madrid, is another player who has won everything with Real Madrid.
