Following the closure of Goodison Park, the son of an Everton icon signs with a new team.
Shae Cahill left Everton in the summer after four years with the team.

The son of former Goodison Park hero Tim Cahill, Shae Cahill, has been signed by Brisbane Roar from Everton.

The 18-year-old’s four-year affiliation with the Blues has come to an end after he signed a multi-year contract with the A-League team.

Cahill, who may play for England, Australia, or the US, joined Everton at the age of 14 before moving up to the under-18 squad, where he recorded three assists in the Premier League North division last season.

The CEO of Brisbane Roar, Kaz Patafta, commented on Cahill’s acquisition in the following manner: “We are happy to announce the signing of Shae Cahill from Everton’s world-class academy to the Brisbane Roar.

A testament to our club’s new philosophy of incorporating young players into our squad and first-team environment is the acquisition of such a potential young midfielder. The Roar family is looking forward to an exciting new era thanks to Shae.

Ross Aloisi, manager of the Roar, was also ecstatic with the acquisition. He immediately praised the 18-year-old’s abilities and later stated that the player’s father, who is perhaps the greatest Australian to play the game, was not a factor in the decision.

Shae’s father is Tim Cahill, so we didn’t sign him,” stated Aloisi. He’s a talented young footballer who can help us reach our goals both now and in the future, so that’s why we bought him. He is a decent young man who will fit in with our club’s culture.

Tim Cahill, who joined from Millwall in 2004, had an illustrious eight-year stint at Goodison Park.

He made 226 appearances for the Blues, scoring 56 goals in that time. He also played for Everton in the 2009 FA Cup semifinal loss to Guus Hiddink’s Chelsea.

Tim Cahill commented on Instagram after his son’s relocation was officially announced: “Very proud of you my man @shaeloucahill. Best wishes for further success to @brisbaneroarfc. Keep going for your dreams.

On Wednesday, Cahil might make his Brisbane Road debut against Newcastle Jets in a friendly game.
