David Seaman now believes the £65 million player Arsenal is rumored to be interested in performed admirably on international duty.

David Seaman has revealed that Arsenal target Marc Guehi performed admirably for England this week on international duty.

Before England’s match against Scotland last night, Seaman spoke on the Seaman Says Podcast.

After maintaining a 100% record in their first five qualifiers, England finally dropped points against Ukraine on Saturday.

An Oleksandr Zinchenko opener was cancelled out by Kyle Walker’s first international goal.

Gareth Southgate was short of centre-backs going into this break, with John Stones and Tyrone Mings injured.

He persisted with Harry Maguire against Ukraine and partnered him with Marc Guehi.

This summer, the Crystal Palace defender was linked with a move to Arsenal.

That never happened, with his £65 million price tag maybe contributing to Arsenal’s lack of action.

Arsenal icon Seaman believes Guehi made the most of his rare opportunity to shine for the Three Lions.

He was given another start against Scotland Friday night, but was replaced at halftime by Harry Maguire after picking up a knock.

Guehi, an Arsenal target, impressed Seaman.
“You don’t want to put two newbies in there where you’re not sure what you’re going to get,” Seaman said of the center-back scenario.

“I thought [Marc] Guehi did well; it was solid.” He wasn’t put through a lot of testing, but he’s still a good seasoned player.

“It was a massive crowd in Poland, and it was fantastic to see that; all of the Ukrainian fans got to see their team without having to travel long distances; it’s just next door in a neighboring country.”

“I thought it was a good test,” he said, “but it wasn’t the most exciting game.”

Southgate must have been as impressed by Guehi as Seaman was, because he started both games, and it’s no surprise Arsenal is intrigued.

He might have gone with Levi Colwill or Fikayo Tomori, but he preferred to give Guehi two chances to shine.

Guehi already has an Arsenal fan in Declan Rice, who praised him as ‘clever’ during the international break.
